Over thirty students signed up for the competition and eighteen submitted both their research and resulting artistic “translation” for the festival held Saturday April 12th in Taconic Hall. Dr. Conklin (the college president), Carol Roper (a retired English Professor from DCC) and Michael Hall (a new BHS faculty member) served as the judges for the artistic competition. |

The eighteen students submitted either still or written art. Joe Rosasco won the still art category for his stencil piece entitled America’s McProblem and Karissa Dudzinski won in the written category for her poem entitled Secrets. The two winning entries are available for viewing in the BHS department office located in suite 403 of Hudson Hall. Each winner will be given a $100.00 gift card donated by the DCC Bookstore. Two honorable mentions in the still art category were awarded to Anthony Vicirca for his pen drawing Shiva Homemaker and to Stevie Younger for her collage entitled Obesity. Two honorable mentions in the written art category were awarded to Andrew Valitutto for his song The illness of America and to Megan Raymond for her poem entitled Drugs. Each honorable mention will be awarded a $25.00 gift card donated by the bookstore. |

All of the participants were given a tee shirt commemorating the Translations festival along with a certificate of participation. |
